Uttar Pradesh police has launched a social media campaign with the hashtag #ANoMeansNo to warn those who try to “force fit a yes in a woman’s no” on Saturday. ‘No means no’ is an anti-rape/ harassment slogan that emphasises sexual consent. With a strong message, “Don’t force fit your ‘yes’ in her ‘no’,” the cops shared the campaign.

The Idea came from a dating app ‘Tinder’. UP Police shared a video clip on its official twitter handle on August 9 with the caption saying: “Even an app understands the importance of consent, why can’t you? And it was an instant hit.”

In the promotional video, a girl is seen swiping right when she meets a handsome boy on the street. The boy, however, chooses to swipe left and walks away. On a dating app, it’s a match only when both swipe right, without which users cannot exchange messages. Encouraged by the response, the team decided to modify the message and uploaded a graphic with the caption Don’t Force Fit Your ‘Yes’ In Her ‘No’.
